This was my uncle. We once sat down to a family dinner, and in the midst of the conversation he started talking about his wife who'd left him.

"Why did she leave me? Maybe it was X, maybe it was Y?"

Every woman at that table looked at him like, 'funny, we all know EXACTLY why she left you.'

He still called her his wife for years after she left, and he only stopped doing that when he found ways to make her life increasingly difficult.

It was the weirdest thing to witness. And stuff like this is what made me finally say, "I'll stay single, thanks."
