The writer in question also wrote an article saying that people should only write fact-based articles on medium (no blogging or personal stories) and I wrote back saying that I like reading stories about people's lives here, and that there's room for all kinds of stories and writers on Medium.

She responded by looking over my join date, followers, etc, and comparing them to hers, telling me how much money she's made here, then telling me I was never going to make money as a writer.

I responded by telling her that I joined here to read long before I started writing, so my join date + follower count didn't actually reflect my personal failing as a writer.

Then I told her that I actually do make a living at writing, as it's my day job (along with editing), and that I've actually made more than her writing, and because I write fact-based stuff for my day job, I prefer to let loose and write story-based stuff here.

I guess she didn't like that, so she blocked me.

I don't really feel it's much of a loss, tbh.

And PLEASE continue writing about your experiences as a person of color. As a white woman, I appreciate your stories and I need to hear them.

Accusing someone of playing the victim when standing in a place of privilege is...I don't have the fucking words, but I see it all the time, even in my own family.
