See here is a perfect example of the problem. I follow you, James, and I have a very positive association with your name (as in, I looked at it and knew that you've written something I liked) but I don't think Medium has served up a single helping of your writing to me, a follower, in recent memory. Why is that? I get crap from people I don't follow on my home page all the time.

I think I'll follow Edward Robson's above advice and switch my homepage from "recommended for you" to "following."

I've found the same thing about self-publishing vs. publication publishing - I just don't get much engagement when I self-publish. PS I Love You was my favorite but alas, it's gone.
