Ohhhhh, Shannon! My mom is the same. It’s fascinating, sad and funny all at the same time. I adore my mom, but I just can’t see how she comes to her conclusions. I’ve asked her, “Mama, how do you decide what to believe on the internet? Like, what is your vetting process?”

She couldn’t verbalize it, but I do think it’s probably wrapped up in her Mormon beliefs, which tell her that her feelings are a valid means of obtaining truth. It makes meaninful discussion on these topics very difficult.
