Every time my family members diverge from the church, it's when the church is being reasonable. Sometimes I study up on recent conference talks to combat the crazy. For example when my mom has spent tens of thousands on food storage and wants to buy more because she's certain the end is nigh, and I say, "Mom, no one knows the day nor the hour," and quote a GA who recently said the second coming wouldn't happen any time soon.

Sadly, when the church is being wacky (as with LGBTQ+ issues), though, they're all for it.
