In my experience, the people who say, “I don’t even see race, I’m color blind,” are among the most racist people I’ve met. I think to really be trying to make things better, you have to search yourself and go, “yeah. I am a little racist — my lizard-brain favors people who look like me and I’ve been steeped in a racist narrative for my entire life — but I don’t want to be racist, so I’m going to work on it.”

It’s hard to get to a goal if you don’t know where you’re starting.

We may have to start with a little color-awareness to get to the color blindness you seek.
