I'm American, but have also lived in Asia (for seven years) and Europe (for a few years) and have spent a fair amount of time in Mexico (over a year). I think my favorite place was Taiwan. Cost of living was low and healthcare and public transportation was provided (extremely cheaply) by the government. Now don't get me wrong, Taiwan has its problems (the looming presence of China being one of them) but when you take care of those two things, citizens can thrive, and there's not this overwhelming anxiety among those who haven't gotten an awesome job - they can still live a meaningful and fear-free life. And guess what the taxation rate is? 18% for the richest, 6% for the vast majority of residents, and 4% or 0 for the poor. I don't think I ever saw a homeless person. It was amaze balls. I still have permanent residency there, so I might go back....but in the meantime, nice try, guy, but GOTCHA! I've lived all over and done fine ;) America is nice in a lot of ways, but it's NOT, in my opinion, the best country in the world.
