I hear you. I've thought so many of these things myself, and your thoughts added to my general feeling.

As a hapless American myself, I can only say this: Please don't blame the bulk of the American people for these atrocities. We have so little influence over our government individually - my opinion counts for about as much as yours does in the broad scheme of things, even though it's my government (for, by, of the people my ass).

This is an argument I had with an australian friend once: Yes, we agree about all the same things, the only difference between us is that you blame all American people, while I can't because I AM one of those American people, and I'm powerless. I can shout into the void all I want and nothing changes.
